Cell adhesion shows a reduction in Palladin -/- neural tube but not in non-neural ectoderm. (A) Cross-sections of wt and Palladin -/- embryos at E9.5 are stained with an antibody against E-cadherin to detect cell adhesion in the surface ectoderm. There is strong expression of E-cadherin at the edge of neural folds in both wt and Palladin -/- embryos. (B) Wt and Palladin -/- embryos at E9.5 are stained with an antibody against β1-integrin. Cell adhesion is reduced in Palladin -/- neural tubes (a, c, g) than that in wt ones (b, d, h). The boxed regions in a and b are shown at higher magnification in c and d, respectively
