Dendritic arbor growth and dynamics. (A) Dendrite development can be divided into three phases: phase I, the cell differentiates and extends an axon with little elaboration of the dendritic arbor; phase II, the dendritic arbor grows rapidly; phase III, the dendritic arbor grows slowly and appears stable.
